What in the world is Judo and why should I be involved

Judo is practiced on mats and consists primarily of throws, along with grappling (ground techniques) which includes pins, chokes, and armbars. Additional techniques, including striking and various joint locks are found in the judo katas. Judo is generally compared to wrestling but it retains its unique combat forms.
Principle: Most instructors stress the principles of Judo such as the principle of yielding to overcome greater strength and size. The scientific principles of leverage, balance, efficiency, momentum, and control are also taught. Maximum efficiency and mutual welfare and benefit are the best known principles of Judo.
